Selfcare

Daily writing prompt
How do you practice self-care?

Possibly the greatest form of self care stems from discernment. Do I crave comfort, rest, ritual and nourishment? Or, do I need the peace of having achieved even a small step towards a goal, a responsibility, an obligation, after ambition has long taken flight? Self care is a delicate combination of knowing what I would rather do, and making the choice that truly feels satisfying, especially if the desire and the action are not the same.

  1. At the age of 74 I look back on my beautiful, but sometimes messy, painful life, and am grateful to have made it this far as many people never get to experience the gift of growing old. All the joy, as well as the bumps and bruises my heart was subject to, have made me the woman I am today. I can look in the mirror and like the person I’ve become. I’ve learned that it’s extremely important to take care of myself by eating a healthy diet and exercise daily. I look forward to my morning walk with my little Shihpoo just before the break of dawn and before the sun dares to shine too brightly in my eyes. As the saying goes, better late than never!
